"Using Social Media to Get Connected"

I currently utilize Twitter  and Facebook as a means to be connected to Head Start parents and community partners.  This tool has been effective in keeping parents connected to current Head Start events, policy alerts and program updates. 

I believe both Facebook and Twitter are effective in advocacy.  The majority of parents, of children born between 2009 and the present, are probably already connected to some form of social media.  

Some of the methods of utilizing these social media tools are for informing parents of important policy updates, informing parents of contact information for elected officials and explaining various policy and advocacy efforts.
