When I think of research, I immediately think of processes and systems. During the initial stages of this course, I was somewhat nervous, but not really. As a Head Start Director, I have participated in many research project and pilot studies. However, I was not that knowledgeable of the meanings of research terminology, as I was with the actual process of research. In a sense, this course helped me to connect the dots of my experience in research with research theory and definition. This course has helped me to realized that I love research and I do want to complete actual research based on my research simulation from this course: The Impact of Poor Housing Conditions and Homelessness on Young Children.
One thing I learned during this course, is that there are many designs of research, numerous methods to collect data and ethical considerations that should be reviewed before conducting any research study. I never quite realized all that went into conducting research. This course has enable me to have a greater respect for individuals who have chosen to enter the field of research as their career.
Research has the power to change lives...to change the world. I want to be able to conduct research that will do just that in the lives of many children and families.
